Still More Class Pictures

Ah - what hopes and dreams gleam in these eyes! Alas, only we today know what the future holds for you, and you are relegated to patiently wait and live your lives day by day as the future unfolds. But we who look back can only shake our heads at the innocent lives we led. And if we could, perhaps we would offer advise to our younger selves or our friends that might have changed the course of our lives. But, as Omar Khayyam so eloquently wrote in the Rubaiyat, "The moving finger writes and having writ, moves on; nor all your Piety nor Wit Shall lure it back to cancel half a Line, Nor all your Tears wash out a Word of it."
What were we thinking as we stood for our pictures? Were we contemplating the future and all the heartaches and triumphs that would come, which serve as milestones marking our progress as we pass through our lives? Or were we reflecting on the simple times we lived in, and how much each of us were influenced by our parents, friends, and teachers. Were we smiling because we were safe and happy in our rural community, sharing a lifestyle that, perhaps, many would envy today. Or were we just waiting for lunch or recess?
I don't know why Cathie and Judy are holding Norman and I down, but there must have been a good reason....
